Sea Turtle Sightings Reported In Nantucket Sound And Buzzard's Bay

Now it really is summer. We have the first reports of sea turtles in the area.

Officials at the Mass Audobon Society say that they were spotted at Nantucket Sound about 2 miles south of South Monomoy.

A second leather back turtle was also spotted swimming in Buzzard’s Bay.

Officials say there are far too many obstacles to the turtles including being hit by boats and being entangled in fishing lines.

Most of the time when you see the sea turtles around, you will know that there are jellyfish as well.

That’s a sea turtles favorite meal.
