The Barnstable Police Department is investigating a possible drug overdose by a school employee on school grounds.
Police responded on Friday to the Barnstable-West Barnstable Elementary School for a 911 call of an unresponsive staff member, and life-saving measures were reportedly taken until the individual could be taken to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment.
Police say a substance believed to be possibly drugs was recovered at the scene near the loading dock area of the school.
The police department says additional checks of the school to help provide for student and staff safety were conducted over the weekend.
