$5-Million In Drug Treatment Funding Not Enough To Solve Issue

Drug Treatment groups say the five-million dollars in the state budget for treatment is nice but they say it is a drop in the bucket compared to what is really needed.

The groups coming forward as lawmakers sit down to hammer out a budget agreement before the start of the fiscal year.

But State Senator Julian Cyr says that the money, combined with clean syringe programs and more Narcan for public safety officials will help in the process.

According to the latest figures, 2 thousand people died in this state each year since 2016. Nationally more than 47 thousand people dead according to 2017 numbers.
