National Peace Officers Memorial Day on Tuesday

National Peace Officers Memorial Day is Tuesday and Governor Charlie Baker has ordered flags be lowered to half-staff to commemorate the day.

The Falmouth Police Department will conduct a memorial service to honor all peace officers and remember all officers who have died in the line of duty, especially Falmouth police officer Samuel F. Pierce who lost his life in a motorcycle accident on August 16, 1933 while on duty.

The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Falmouth Police Department with a procession of uniformed officers led by the Falmouth Police Department’s Honor Guard.

Following the procession a memorial wreath will be placed with the police department flag and memorial markers.

The public is welcome to attend.
