Littering Leads to Arrest of Cape Cod Pair


Yarmouth Police arrested two people following a traffic stop for littering.

On Wednesday, around 3 p.m., Proactive Anti-Crime Unit Officer Christopher Van Ness observed the driver of a vehicle throw a lit cigarette out of the window and conducted a traffic stop of that vehicle on Route 28 in West Yarmouth.

Two people inside the vehicle were found to have warrants for their arrest and they were subsequently placed in custody. Joshua Alan Bitzer-Wardwell, 28, of Barnstable and Jessica Sageir, 27, of West Dennis were taken to Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and will be processed in the Barnstable District Court today.

Bitzer-Wardwell had outstanding warrants for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Larceny of and improper use of a credit card, and other charges.

Sageir was wanted on a Fugitive from Justice charge on a court warrant for larceny in New Hampshire.
