Eversource Initiates 2-Way Texting for Outages

Eversource is now offering its customers the option to text them about power outages.

The utility says it is part of its continuing effort to interact quickly and efficiently with customers.

The process is simple. Customers must first register their mobile device, which is done online at Eversource.com or from their mobile device. Text “R-E-G” to 23129 to get started.

Eversource recommends that customers add the outage text number to their “contacts.”

When registered customers suffer an outage, they simply text “OUT” to the number and then they can get updates on efforts to restore by texting “STAT.”

If you are an Eversource customer who already receives outage alerts through a text message you will automatically be enrooled in the new two-way feature.
