Officer Peter Silvia was on duty around 12:30 this morning when he reported being involved in a motor vehicle accident on Cranberry Highway in the vicinity of Shenanigans Bar & Grill.

Silvia was traveling south on Route 28 when an oncoming northbound car attempted a left turn into the restaurant’s parking lot, colliding with the cruiser.

The operator of the northbound vehicle, Sean McCrillis, 23, of Wareham was not injured in the crash. Officer Silvia sustained minor injuries and was taken to Tobey Hospital for medical evaluation.

McCrillis was placed under arrest at the scene and charged with OUI Alcohol, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Yield to Oncoming Traffic.

He faces arraignment today in Wareham District Court.
