Chatham selectmen hear comments on the "character" of the town

May 1, 2014 (CHATHAM) _ Clark’s Auto Service in South Chatham will retain its licenses after cleaning up the business along Route 28.

The company –a town fixture for decades –had been granted 90 days to remove junk metal and debris from the front of the property –and come into compliance with state law.

Chatham selectmen praised owner Chris Clark and his brother David for making the requested improvements.

Members of the South Chatham Village Association have complained about the cars and scrap in front of the building.

The issue has sparked a debate in Chatham about the town’s character –and what the community should look like.
