March 11, 2014 (HYANNIS) _ Cape Cod’s jobless picture showed signs of improvement in January.
The state Office of Labor and Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Barnstable County was 10% – compared to 10.9% as the same time the year before.
The rate was up from 8.3% in December – reflecting the seasonal nature of the Cape’s economy.
The jobless rates in January were also down on Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard and Bristol and Plymouth Counties compared to January 2013.
Statewide – the unemployment rate was 7.1% percent in January.
