November 15, 2013 (MASHPEE) _ A new tribal casino compact between the Mashpee Wampanoag and the state has been signed by Governor Deval Patrick.
The revised compact was approved by the Legislature last week –it still needs the okay from the Federal Bureau of Indian Affairs.
Under the arrangement -- the tribe will give the state 17% of its gambling revenues if its proposed Taunton resort casino is the only one in the southeast region.
That would increase to 21% if it's the only one in the state. The state's share would drop to 15% if a slot parlor opens in the region.
