Middleboro company says deal with Cape Wind for foundations is dead

March 12, 2013 (HYANNIS) _ The president of a Middleboro company once touted as a supplier of steel foundations for Cape Wind's offshore turbines says his company's deal for the project is dead.

Carl Horstmann of Mass Tank in Middleborough also questions Cape Wind's commitment to developing U.S. offshore wind in a letter to the U.S. Energy Department.

The agency is considering a loan guarantee for the $2.6 billion Cape Wind project.
It would be the nation's first offshore wind farm.

Horstmann said he would have hired 150 to 300 people locally if his deal with Cape Wind had gone through.

Cape Wind spokesman Mark Rodgers says Mass Tank didn't have the experience or resources to do the job.
