September 25, 2012 (HYANNIS) _ The unemployment numbers continue to drop in Barnstable County.

The State Office of Labor and Workforce Development says the jobless rate fell on Cape Cod to 5.2% in August – down from 6.1% at the same time the year before.

The number of people employed on Cape Cod in august was up by nearly 1,700 compared to the year before.

The jobless numbers also declined on Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
