August 22, 2012 (MARSTONS MILLS) _ The detection of E. Coli has prompted the shut-down of a water well in Marstons Mills.

The Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills water department says the sample was taken on August 14 and the well was taken off-line.

Despite the detection – water officials say there is no need to boil water as follow-up tests from the well have come back negative for E. Coli.

There have been no detections of E. Coli in the distribution system. the affected well is just one of 18 wells in the COMM system.
