Driver extricated after Mashpee crash
MASHPEE
- One person had to be extricated after a two-vehicle crash in Mashpee. The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Falmouth Road (Route 28) at Orchard Road. The victim was taken to Falmouth Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Mashpee Police are investigating.

Provincetown Police warn of lottery scam
PROVINCETOWN
- The Provincetown Police Department are warning the community of a lottery scam after two separate residents reported receiving telephone calls from the “876” area code.  One call was received on Friday and another on Monday. Both instances were reported to police and no money was lost.
 
The victim is contacted via telephone with the good news of winning a lottery. The victim is requested to pay the taxes and fees prior to receipt of the winnings. Many times the winnings will include both cash and a new luxury car. The “taxes and fees” must be paid by wire transfer or over the phone.

Other Common Scams 
•Requests to send money for a loved one who has been arrested or who is in the
  hospital.
•Requests to send money overseas to orphanages, missionaries, or military personnel who have been deployed.
•Get rich quick and easy money by working at home.
•Texts, phone calls, or e-mails from financial institutions that require you to provide
  personal information to “confirm” your identity

Ways to protect yourself or prevent fraud 
•Check your bank account often for fraudulent transactions.
•Be suspicious of money making opportunities from strangers and job opportunities to work from home, especially if the job requires you to receive and ship packages
•Do not respond to e-mails if you are not sure of who the sender is (watch for misspelled words or incorrect English and Grammar) The scammer may be outside the country.
•Contact your financial institution directly if there are questions concerning your
  account. DO NOT reply to texts or e-mails.
•Make sure you are on the legitimate website of the retailer if you are making online purchases and look for the locked padlock on the address bar of that website
•Be wary of high pressure pitches to act immediately and/or require the electronic
  transfer of funds.
•If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Coast Guard continues search for missing fishing vessel
PROVINCETOWN
- The search for two missing fishermen north of Provincetown continued throughout the night Monday and is continuing Tuesday.

The Coast Guard Cutters Spencer, Flyingfish and Sanibel continued searching Monday night, and all search efforts have covered more that 360 square miles and have continued for more than 24 hours.

The Spencer and Sanibel will remain on scene today and the Coast Guard Cutter Bainbridge Island is relieving the Coast Guard Cutter Spencer.

A Coast Guard Air Station MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and HU-25 Falcon jet remain in standby until weather subsides.

Missing is the 25-year-old captain and 50-year-old crewman aboard the 45-foot fishing vessel Foxy Lady II, homeported in Gloucester.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Boston were notified at 8:05 a.m. Monday by the captain's girlfriend reporting that the fishing vessel had not returned as planned on Saturday night, and the last time she had spoken with him was Saturday between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. via text messages. The Foxy Lady II crew had departed Saturday morning.

The last known location of the Foxy Lady II is approximately 15 miles north of Provincetown.

Weather conditions on scene are 8-10 foot seas, 15-20 knot winds and less than one mile visibility.

Truro selectman facing OUI charges after rollover

TRURO
- Truro Police report that on Monday at appoximately 7 p.m. they responded to a rollover crash on Shore Road (Route 6A) at Professional Heights. On arrival a Toyota Rav4 was found on its side with the operator inside. Truro firefighters extricated the driver identified as Gary Palmer, 71, of Truro from the wreckage and he was then transported to Cape Cod Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Mr. Palmer is the vice-chairman of the Truro Board of Selectmen. Police also say he will be summoned to face charges of operating under the influence of liquor, operating negligently to endanger and marked lanes violation. The Barnstable Sheriff's Office assisted with the investigation.

Sandwich gas station robbed at knifepoint
SANDWICH
- Sandwich Police are looking for the suspect who robbed the Express Mart at 127 Route 6A about 8 p.m.
The clerk advised responding officers as she was closing for the night, a dark skinned male wearing a black ski mask, and all black clothing entered the store.   The suspect demanded money from the register and showed a knife.  The male is described as 5’11” to 6’ tall with a thin build. 

The suspect then fled the area on foot.  The clerk was not injured.  K-9 units from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and a track was established.  At this time the suspect has not been located.

Officer Timothy Kane is investigating the incident with Sandwich Police Detectives.
