BARNSTABLE - (with WXTK) A crash on Route 6 during the afternoon commute caused major traffic delays. The crash happened westbound between exits 7 and 6 around 4 p.m. A motorist reported to CWN that traffic was backed up beyond exit 8 for a time. It was not believed anyone was seriously injured. State Police are investigating.
Large scale drill at Barnstable Airport this evening
HYANNIS - A large scale disaster drill will be held this evening at the Barnstable Municipal Airport from 5 to 8 p.m. The drill is an FAA requirement to test the airport's readiness to respond to a major plane crash or other incident. Barnstable Police, area fire departments, Cape Cod Hospital and the Red Cross are among the agencies taking part. None of what you may see driving past the airport is real.
Car hits gas pump in Truro

TRURO - A gas crashed into a gas pump at the Cape Cod Oil Citgo Station on Route 6 at Head of the Meadow Road sometime after 10:30 a.m. There were reports the Honda Accord was smoking after the crash but the automatic fire supression system apparently prevented a major disaster, Power and gas flow were turned off as a precaution. Paramedics evaluated the driver who declined to go to the hospital. We'll bring you further details as we get them. A CWN reader submitted this photo. If you see breaking news let us know. Vehicle stop results in drug arrest
YARMOUTH - On Wednesday at 6:50 p.m. Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigator Mary Gibney stopped a grey sedan bearing a New Jersey registration on Old Townhouse Road in South Yarmouth for alleged motor vehicle offenses.The operator provided a Georgia license identifying him as Jason Webster, 23, but an on-scene investigation subsequently determined his license was revoked for being a habitual traffic offender. There were several other people in the vehicle and Barnstable-Yarmouth Street Crimes Unit Officer Scott Lundegren and K9 Deputy Paul Roderick of the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office arrived as back up. Webster was placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle after revocation and the vehicle was towed. A subsequent inventory of the vehicle was conducted which led to the discovery of illegal drugs.
Webster was charged with Operating a M/V after Revocation for being a Habitual Traffic Offender (which includes being caught operating with a suspended license 6 times) Subsequent Offense, Marked Lanes Violation, Stop Sign Violation, Possession of Class C (Clonazepam), Possession of Class C (Lorazepam), and Possession of Class B (Methadone) Subsequent Offense. Webster was booked at Yarmouth Police Headquarters and is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in the Barnstable District Court

Law enforcement task force nails drug dealers
YARMOUTH - On Wednesday, October 17, 2012 a team of Law Enforcement Officers executed four search warrants (two for homes and two for motor vehicles) in Yarmouth and Mashpee which led to the arrest of two large-scale heroin dealers. This special team of officers brought a lengthy investigation to a successful conclusion and consisted of men and women from the following agencies:- The Federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms
- The Massachusetts State Police Cape Cod Drug Task Force
- The Federal Drug Enforcement Administration
- The Yarmouth Police Department
- The Mashpee Police Department
- The Harwich Police Department
- The Brewster Police Department
- The Chatham Police Department
- The Provincetown Police Department
- The Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department
During a motor vehicle stop at approximately 4:40 p.m., Wednesday evening of a 2013 Nissan Altima that occurred on Route 28 in West Yarmouth, Police say Officers located a quantity of Oxycodone and Percocet and arrested Krystina Miller, 22, of Mashpee (top photo) for felony possession of Class B drugs and felong trafficking in Class A (heroin). At the same time another motor vehicle stop of a 2005 Ford 500 operated by Myles Reid, 26, of West Yarmouth was conducted and a search warrant was executed at his residence which reportedly resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of steroids and heroin. Myles was was arrested and is charged with felony possession of Class E (steriods), felong trafficking in Class A (heroin) and felong conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act.A final search warrant was executed at 56 South Sandwich Road in Mashpee, the residence of Miller, which resulted in the seizure of a large amount of heroin.
Both suspects were held overnight at Yarmouth Police Headquarters and were due to be arraigned in the Barnstable District Court Thursday morning.
