Robbery Injuries 86-year old Victim DENNIS - At approximately 3:05 p.m. Thursday afternoon Dennis Police responded to several 911 calls to a residence on Forest Pines Drive in East Dennis reporting a female resident had just been assaulted and robbed in the garage of her residence.
Upon arrival officers learned that the victim, an 86-year old, had just returned home from shopping and was in the process of unloading her vehicle, which she had parked inside of her garage. The victim was approached from behind by a lone male suspect who grabbed her shoulder bag, which she was holding. A struggle ensued and the suspect knocked the victim to the ground, repeatedly pulling at the bag finally wrenching it from her grasp.
The victim received numerous injuries as a result of the assault, including to her hip, chest and arms. She was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by Dennis Fire-Rescue, where she was admitted.
The suspect is described as a white male between 30 and 40 years of age, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build and dark-colored hair. The suspect has a mustache and goatee and was described as having a neat appearance.
The suspect was last seen wearing a green knit-type hat, sunglasses, gray sweatshirt and Khaki or light colored cargo pants and workboots. The suspect also smelled of cigarettes.
The suspect is believed to have been the operator of a champagne colored pick-up truck, possibly a mid-2000 era Ford with an extended cab, heavy-duty front and a 6-foot bed with a dark-colored bed liner.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Dennis Police Department, Sgt. Ben Wunderlich or the Dennis Police Tip Line at 774-352-1500. Release furnished by Dennis Police
