Car vs mail truck injures one


CENTERVILLE
- One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Centerville. A small Nissan sedan reportedly struck a mail truck before crashing into a tree. The crash happened early Thursday afternoon at Route 28 and Strawberry Hill Road. That is the same intersection where there was another crash yesterday
. Barnstable Police are investigating the cause of this latest crash.

Mashpee firefighters handle dryer fire, CO incident
MASHPEE
- It was a busy overnight for Mashpee firefighters. About 10:30 p.m. Wednesday evening they were called to 4 Woodland Avenue for a clothes dryer on fire. The occupants of the house evacuated and the fire was quickly knocked down. Crews remained on scene venting heavy smoke that had built up in the home. Then about 2 a.m. Thursday morning, firefighters were called to 274 Simon's Narrows Road for a carbon monoxide alarm. Everyone again was able to evacuate and arriving crews did find elevated levels of the odorless, colorless, potentially deadly gas. The building was ventilated the offending heating unit was shut down until repairs could be made.
