Motorcyclist seriously injured in Hyannis crash


HYANNIS - About 2:45 p.m. Sunday afternoon, a motorcycle collided with a car on Ridgewood Avenue by Beard Chevrolet in Hyannis. The male driver of the motorcycle was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the car was not injured. Hyannis firefighters also contained a small fluid spill. The crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police.

One taken to hospital after smoky dryer fire


BARNSTABLE - At about 10:15 a.m.Sunday morning, the Barnstable Dire Department was dispatched to a dryer fire at 65 Locust Lane. Upon arrival smoke was showing. Mutual aid from Hyannis and West Barnstable was called to the scene. The Yarmouth FD covered the Barnstable station. There was extension of fire out of the dryer but confined to one room. The gas and electric to the house was shut off  and the wiring inspector was called to the scene One resident was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for smoke inhalation and three others were checked at the scene. The Red Cross was called to assist the homeowners  in relocation.

Smoke scare on dinner train


WEST BARNSTABLE - Anxious moments on the Cape Cod Dinner Train after smoke begins to fill one of the cars. West Barnstable firefighters were called to the crossing near the post office on Route 6A about 9 p.m. Saturday evening. According to reports an electrical junction box on one of the train cars overheated causing the problem. The car was detached from the train and put on a siding. The passengers continued in the other cars back to Hyannis. No one was injured. The incident came nine days after the train was struck by a large boulder hurled off an overpass in Sandwich. The suspect in that incident remains at large. There was no immediate indication that the latest incident was suspicious.
