Barnstable SCU seizes half pound of marijuana
HYANNIS
-
On Thursday, Members of the Barnstable Street Crime Unit (SCU) were assigned to patrol the downtown area of Hyannis.  SCU is a multi-agency unit comprised of members from the Barnstable Police Department, Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department, and Yarmouth Police Department.  SCU utilizes unmarked police vehicles and its member dress in “plain clothes”.  One of their primary duties is to suppress and deter crimes of violence, disorderly conduct, and narcotics activity in the downtown Hyannis area.  SCU regularly patrols the Main Street area with extra attention given at “bar closing time”.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., SCU members Yarmouth Detective Scott Lundegren and Deputy Sheriff Kim Saladino observed a suspicious vehicle in the North Street parking lot.  They observed a group of subjects mulling around the outside of a black Ford pickup truck.  They further observed two subjects seated inside the vehicle.  This section of the North Street parking lot at this hour is primarily used by patrons of area nightclubs.  The SCU has made narcotics arrests in this parking lot in the past.  Lundegren and Saladiino's observations were consistent with possible narcotics activity.

The officers approached the vehicle and identified the person sitting in the operator’s seat as Robert Daluze, 27, of Harwich (left).  The passenger was identified as JohnAdam P Bonicoro, 28, of East Strousdberg, PA (right).  Lundegren made observations relating to the use of marijuana inside the vehicle.  A follow up investigation resulted in the recovery of a ½ pound of marijuana and a digital scale from inside the vehicle by Saladino.  The high-grade marijuana has a street value of approximately $2500.00

Both were placed under arrested and charged with possession of class D/marijuana with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate the narcotics laws.  They were transported to the Barnstable Police Facility, booked, and released on bail.  They are due in Barnstable District Court on Tuesday for arraignment.
