Dog rescued from Mashpee house fire
MASHPEE
- A smoky fire damaged a home in Falmouth Sunday evening. Crews were called to 205 Glenneagle Drive about 6 p.m. to find the house full of smoke. The fire was located in a lower level bedroom closet and quickly knocked down. All the occupants were able to escape safely. Firefighters rescued the family dog which appeared to be just fine despite the ordeal. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage was estimated at $15,000. Mutual aid from Cotuit, Centerville along with a Coast Guard ambulance responded to the scene while Mass Military Reservation Fire covered the Mashpee station.

Two pedestrians struck in Falmouth
FALMOUTH
- Two pedestrians were struck by a car in Falmouth sometime after 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The incident happened on Teaticket Highway (Route 28) by Aubuchon Hardware. Falmouth Police 21-year-old Robert Estrela and 22-year-old Cailey Copeland both of Falmouth were struck by a Honda Accord driven by Katherine Stone, 26, of Falmouth. Estrela taken to Falmouth Hospital to meet a MedFlight helicopter which transported him to Beth Isreal Deaconess Medical in Boston. A MedFlight crewmember on the first flight was injured getting off the helicopter and treated at Falmouth Hospital. A second helicopter was called to transport Estrela. Stone, whose car was heavily damaged including a smashed windshield, was also taken to the hospital. Copeland initially declined to go to the hospital but later decided to go. The Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Crash Reconstruction unit is assisting Falmouth Police with the investigation. No word if any charges will be filed.

Man charged with hitting woman in head with beer bottle
HYANNIS - A Hyannis man is accused of hurling a beer bottle off a deck in Hyannis early Sunday morning striking a woman in the head causing serious injury. A Barnstable Police Street Crimes Unit found the woman down on the sidewalk in front of 615 Main Street. She was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with a head injury. Police located the suspect a short time later and they say witnesses positively identified him. Robert J. Lamie, 30, was charged with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (beer bottle) and held on $500 bail pending arraignment Monday in Barnstable District Court. According the police an argument reportedly developed over Lamie shining a laser in the woman's eyes.

Fire damages attic in Yarmouth
SOUTH YARMOUTH
- Fire damaged the attic of a home in South Yarmouth early Sunday morning. Firefighters believe a light fixture at 50 Wolfson Road malfunctioned  causing a smouldering fire in some insulation. Heavy smoke also had to be ventilated. No injuries were reported

Barnstable man missing in Maine
KENNEBUNKPORT, ME
- Two men, one from Barnstable, are missing in Maine. Zachary Wells, 21, of Burlington, VT (left) and Prescott Wright, 23, of Barnstable (right) were last seen Wednesday where Wright was living.

The Landing School, which teaches boat building, reported them missing on Friday after they failed to show to classes.

Because Wright's residence is near the water, the Coast Guard was asked to search the coast. Police say there was no sign of any disturbance at the house.

Provincetown pelican headed to Florida

PROVINCETOWN
- Some birds have all the luck, The pelican that was rescued from MacMillan Wharf in late November is headed home. Wildcare has been nursing the pelican back to health, and now just as the coldest weather of the season is moving in, the bird will be flown to a wildlife preserve in Florida. It is believed the bird may have been blown off course by Hurricane Sandy.
