Two-alarm blaze in Sandwich

SANDWICH - Firefighters have contained a major fire in downtown Sandwich. The call came in about 6:25 p.m. for a barn on fire a the old Roberti Farm behind the Super Stop & Shop off Route 6A and Tupper Road. Several ladder trucks were called to the scene to protect the supermarket as wind whipped embers were being blown on the roof for a time. No injuries were reported. Fire crews from Plymouth, Onset, and across the Upper Cape responded to the scene or covered empty fire stations. The State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire, which was just down the road from another major blaze on September 29th.

Woman uses ruse twice to B&E homes for drugs
YARMOUTH
- Daria E. Pearlman, 32, of Ashland, MA was caught by the Yarmouth Police Department at 8:30 a.m. on Friday after she allegedly asked an elderly resident of a Collingwood Drive home to use his bathroom. This was the second day in a row that she had been in the area and conducted the same ruse.The resident allowed her in to the home and she went in to the bathroom with the intent to steal prescription drugs. Pearlman was arrested by YPD and was charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with intent to commit a felony, and larceny from a building. She was arraigned Friday in Barnstable District Court. Yarmouth Police remind citizens to nevel  let any stranger into your home regardless of the reason. Be safe and keep them outside and immediately call 911.

Traffic stop leads to OUI, warrant arrests
YARMOUTH - Marissa L. DeVincent, 23, of Brockton, MA (left) was stopped at 1:10 a.m. Saturday morning for travelling on Route 6A in Yarmouthport allegedly without any lights on by Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Jason Batchelder and Richard Aprea. The officers determined that she was intoxicated and placed her under arrest for Operating undet the influence of liquor, operating to endanger, defective equipment and operating without headlights on. The officers also determined that the passenger Ashley Stevens, 21, also of Brockton, MA (right) was wanted on two outstanding warrants and placed her under arrest. Both suspects were processed at Yarmouth Police Headquarters and will be arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on Monday.

One injured after fiery crash
WEST BARNSTABLE
- One person was taken to Cape Cod Hospital for evaluation after a fiery crash in West Barnstable. The crash happened on Route 149 by the fairgrounds not far from Popple Bottom Road. The occupant escaped the car before flames engulfed it. The crash is under investigation by Barnstable Police

Car vs pole in Mashpee knocks out power
MASHPEE - A car struck a utility pole in Mashpee and then rolled over. It happened about 9:50 p.m. Friday evening on Nathan Eliis Highway (Route 151) at James Circle. The pole snapped and live wires came down to the ground forcing the driver to stay in the vehicle until NStar could cut power in the area. The driver was then taken to Falmouth Hospital for evaluation. Mashpee Police are investigating the crash. NStar crews were able to restore service except in the immediate area. Work to replace the pole will likely take much of the night with traffic detours resulting,
