Three suspects sought in B&E, assault in Eastham
EASTHAM - Eastham Police are looking for three suspects who allegedly broke into a shed and assaulted the resident with a pipe. The incident happened just after 4 p.m. on Sharon Circle. The victim was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with unknown injuries. A State Police K-9 was assisting in the search. We'll bring you further details as we get them.

Plane mishap in Marstons Mills

MARSTONS MILLS
- A plane taxiing at the Cape Cod Airport in Marstons Mills ended up off the runway in some short brush around 4 p.m. There were no injuries and there did not appear to be any significant damage or any fuel leakage. It was not clear if the pilot had just landed or was getting ready to take off. According to the FAA website, the plane is a 1977 Lake LA-4-200 Buccaneer single engine amphibious craft owned by Stephan McGrail of South Dennis. The incident is under investigation.

YPD investigating series of daytime house breaks
YARMOUTH - On Friday evening the Yarmouth Police Department began receiving several reports of house breaks that occurred sometime during the broad day light on Friday.

Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigators David Dickey, Erica Wenberg, and Mark Noone responded to the homes located on the following streets and neighborhoods:

Fontneau Road Bass River
River Street Bass River
Blue Rock Road South Yarmouth

All of the breaks-ins appear to have occurred between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Entry in one home was made through an unlocked door. Entry in to the other two homes was made by kicking in a front and a side door. Stolen from the homes were assorted amounts and styles of jewelry.

With the crime scene assistance of Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigator Albert Roth, Yarmouth Police Detectives Gordon T. Gibbons and Christopher Kent are conducting an aggressive follow-up investigation and the Yarmouth Police Department reminds all citizens to immediately take the following crime prevention steps:

Lock all windows and doors
Do not keep a house key hidden outside of the home
Be vigilant for any suspicious activity during the day and night
Report any suspicious persons or activity immediately by calling 911

Alleged violent drug dealer arrested for second time

HYANNIS - On Friday, Members of the Barnstable Street Crime Unit (SCU) were in the east end of Main Street, Hyannis area.  SCU had received information a violent convicted felon maybe in possession of a handgun and walking around Hyannis.  He was identified as 28-year-old Tony D Johnson of Hyannis.  Johnson is known to local law enforcement, and has convictions out of both Barnstable Superior and District Courts for crimes of violence, illegal possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm, and distribution of narcotics.
 
At approximately 9:55 p.m., SCU members Patrolman Ted Cronin and Deputy Sheriff Michael Huse observed Johnson in the area of 200 Main Street in Hyannis. Johnson appeared to be in the middle of a hand/hand narcotics transaction.  The officers encountered Johnson and found that he was not armed but was in the possession of approx 6 grams of “crack” cocaine.  The drugs were in 4 small plastic bags packaged in a manner consistent with distribution.
 
Johnson was placed under arrest and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute/subsequent offense.  If convicted, Johnson would be facing a 5 year to 15 year states prison sentence. This is the second time the SCU has arrested Johnson.  On November 7th, 2011, Johnson was arrested on South Street, Hyannis after he was found in possession of 15 Percocet pills.  He was released after posting $2,500 cash bail.  That case is still pending in Barnstable District Court.  He is currently being held at the Barnstable Police Department on a $15,000 cash bail for the new charge.

Fire damages Hyannis home

HYANNIS
- At 10:30 a.m. Saturday Hyannis Fire responded to a call of a house fire at 140 Pine Street. near Strawberry Hill Road.

The occupants evacuated the home after a smoke condition eveloped inside.

Firefighters found that there was a fire in the attic of the 1 story ranch dwelling.

A ceiling fan and insulation had to be taken down and brought outside the side door.

Officials called for electrical and building inspectors to respond to the home.

There were no injuries.

Driver charged with OUI after Osterville rollover
OSTERVILLE
- A driver escaped injury after his SUV went off the road and rolled over on its roof early Saturday morning. The crash happened on Main Street near Ship Eagle Lane. Barnstable Police arrested Aaron Buckler, 31, of Osterville for operating under the influence of liquor and operating negligently to endanger.


Barnstable Police offering internet safety course to parents
HYANNIS
- The Barnstable Police Department is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a Free Internet Safety Class for Parents on Wednesday February 29th. This will be an interactive session with officers from the Barnstable Police Department who have specialized training in the computer field.
