Car vs tree -- miracle on Main Street

SOUTH DENNIS
– Around 8 p.m. Friday the driver of a Buick LeSabre sedan lost control of his vehicle as it headed northbound on Main Street in South Dennis.

The vehicle crossed the centerline and left the roadway. It struck some mailboxes and slammed into a tree in the front yard of 141 Main Street.

As can be seen in the photo above, the passenger’s side of the Buick sustained severe damage from the impact with the tree. Both airbags deployed.

Upon arrival, police and firefighters were surprised to find that the two men in the vehicle had self-extricated and appeared to be uninjured. Both men subsequently refused treatment and transport.

The photo at right (click to enlarge) shows one of the vehicle’s occupants (second from left) talking with Dennis firefighters.

The Dennis Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
