WELLFLEET - Firefighters battled a house fire in Welflleet Monday evening. The call at 11 Partridge Way came in shortly after 6:30 p.m.According to initial reports the house was under construction and not occupied at the time.
Mutual aid from Provincetown to Brewster responded to the scene or covered empty fire stations.
The heavy fire was confined to a rear section of the house and quickly knocked down with minimal damage to the main house.
Fire crews remained on scene checking to make sure the fire hadn't spread further.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Infant MedFlighted from Mashpee
MASHPEE - An infant was MedFlighted from Mashpee Fire headquarters about 6:30 p.m. Rescuers were called to a Hendricks Way residence and transported the infant, who reportedly accidentally suffered a serious hand injury, to the helicopter. Further details were not immediately available.

Sandwich officer being promoted to Sergeant
SANDWICH - The Sandwich Police Department will promote Officer Timothy Cavanaugh to the rank of Provisional Sergeant this afternoon with a ceremony including a badge and swearing in by Taylor White, Sandwich Town Clerk. Sergeant Cavanaugh was hired by the Sandwich Police Department in 1989. During his career with the department he has served as a motorcycle officer, bicycle officer and field training officer. He holds an Associate’s Degree from Western New England College in Criminal Justice. Sgt. Cavanaugh will be replacing Sgt. Daniel O’Connell who retired on November 1st after 38 years of service with the Sandwich Police Department.
