Dennis Fire Department rescues two off Dennisport

DENNISPORT - Around 5 p.m. Sunday a catamaran lost its mast off the coast of Dennisport in the area of Haigis Beach along Old Wharf Road. An ambulance crew from Dennis Fire headquarters deployed to the beach while another crew was dispatched to the department’s south-side rescue boat -- Marine 118, a 22-foot rigid hull inflatable.
The two men on board the disabled Cat were in the process of attempting to paddle the vessel to the beach when Marine 118 arrived on scene with Captain Richard Farrenkopf at the helm.
Rescue personnel threw a line to the cat’s crew and safely towed the craft and its mast to its home port of Swan River. There were no reported injuries.
