Suspects sought in Provincetown hate crime

PROVINCETOWN - Provincetown Police have obtained arrest warrants for two suspects in the alleged November 26th hate crime in Provincetown.
The Orleans District Court issued warrants for Nicholas Archbold (left) and Leif Johnson (right) charging them with: Civil Rights Assault to Intimidate, Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle and Tagging, among other charges.
Archbold and Johnson, both 21, are believed to have fled to their home state of Michigan.
The on-going investigation into this incident by Provincetown Police lead to the development of substantial evidence which indicated that this was in fact a bias motivated crime.
A resident’s vehicle on Conant Street was strewn with paint and spray painted with hate speech.
Archbold and Johnson are also persons of interest in a similar bias motivated crime which took place on November 4, 2012 in Provincetown.
Police Chief Jeff Jaran stated that “Provincetown has a zero tolerance policy for hate motivated crime and such acts will not be tolerated”. Jaran said that” every citizen has the right to feel safe in Provincetown and that the police department is committed to protecting the safety of its residents and visitors”.
