Three hospitalized after crash

DENNISPORT
– Shortly after 5 p.m. Friday a Pontiac Grand Am traveling west on Route 28 struck a Honda Ridgeline entering Route 28 from Shad Hole Road. After striking the Honda, the Pontiac proceeded a short distance and then struck a utility pole.
 
Two Dennis Fire Rescue ambulances transported the three occupants of the Pontiac to Cape Cod Hospital with minor injuries.
 
Route 28 was reduced to one lane until the scene could be cleared. An NStar crew checked the condition of the pole and reported that it was undamaged.  
 
The Dennis Police Department is investigating the crash.

Engine fire on small plane at Hyannis airport
HYANNIS
- Firefighters were called to Barnstable Municipal Airport around 5 p.m. after an engine fire broke out on a small plane. No injuries were reported. An oil leak may have triggered the fire. Further details were not immediately available.

Driver extricated after Falmouth crash
FALMOUTH
- Falmouth Police are investigating a three-vehicle crash around 5 p.m. Two of the vehicles collided head-on on Metoxit Road. One person was extricated from the wreckage and taken to Falmouth Hospital. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. 

Lobsterman safe after falling overboard
PROVINCETOWN
- A lobsterman is safe after reportedly falling overboard into the chilly waters off Provincetown shortly before 8 a.m. The Coast Guard responded quickly after a distress call was received. When they arrived, the victim's son had pulled him back onboard. He was cold but otherwise unhurt. The name of the vessel and the victim were not immediately released but the Coast Guard escorted it to a North Shore port. The incident came two-and-a-half weeks after and not far from where the "Twin Lights" capsized and sank when its nets snagged on something. Skipper Jean Frottier is presumed to have gone down with his ship. Another vessel was able to rescue the mate.

Natural gas odor investigated in Falmouth
FALMOUTH
- Firefighters were called to Sam Turner Road in Falmouth for a strong odor of natural gas. Crews checked several houses but were unable to determine the source. National Grid remains in the area checking the situation out.

Toys for Tots campaigns underway
CAPE COD
- Toys for Tots drives are underway across the Cape.

In Harwich, the public safety facility on Sisson Road is a dropoff point for unwrapped toys by December 15th.
 
In Yarmouth, Yarmouth Police Headquarters will again serve as a drop-off point for donated items in support of the United States Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
 
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver a shiny new toy at Christmas as a message of hope to needy local children that will help motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens, and community leaders.  The United States Marine Corps Reserve operates the program, which involves the collection of new, unwrapped toys during the holiday season for distribution as gifts to needy children all across Cape Cod.
 
Anyone who can contribute is asked to bring their gifts to Yarmouth Police Headquarters, located on Higgins Crowell Road in West Yarmouth near the Mattacheese Middle School, at anytime during the day or night between now and December 25, 2012
