August 3, 2012 (NANTUCKET) _ With a hot weekend approaching – some beachgoers may need to  find an alternate place to cool off in the water.

The Cape Cod National Seashore has closed Marconi Beach in Wellfleet and Nauset Light Beach in Eastham due to high bacteria counts.

This week’s heavy rainfall was a likely contributor to the elevated levels.
 
 In wareham – Briarwood and Forbes Beaches are also closed to swimming.

On Nantucket – the board of health was able to open ten island beaches that were closed earlier in the day because of high bacteria counts.
