September 7, 2011 (BOSTON) Hurricane Katia has weakened to a Category 1 storm in the Atlantic and is expected to pass between the east coast and Bermuda tonight and tomorrow.

Katia's maximum sustained winds decreased to 90 mph.

Though Katia isn't expected to hit land, the National Hurricane Center says large swells could affect the east coast, Bermuda, the greater Antilles and parts of the Bahamas.

Meanwhile, the Hurricane Center says a tropical depression farther out in the Atlantic is expected to become a tropical storm later in the day.
