June 21, 2012 (YARMOUTH) A bi-valve predicted how many weeks of beach weather there will be this summer, as part of the 4th annual Cape Cod Quahog Day.
Doug -- the Cape's official quahog – made the prediction of 84 days of summer weather at an afternoon ceremony yesterday on Parker's Beach in Yarmouth.
Police escorted the quahog via pedicab to the beach, where Doug made the prediction in "secret bi-valve language."
The event, created by the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, comes in response to the numerous calls the chamber receives from tourists inquiring about the length of beach season.
Last year the quahog predicted the summer season would span 12 weeks and 1 day.
