11/16 (Dennis) The possible de-regionalization of grades k-through-8 in the Dennis-Yarmouth school district remains a reality

November 16, 2011 (DENNIS) The possible de-regionalization of grades K-through-8 in the Dennis-Yarmouth school district remains a reality.

Dennis town meeting voters last night rejected an article that sought to overturn an earlier vote to explore the move.

That means the district will have to begin compiling a list of assets and liabilities – and develop a warrant article that would go before both towns in the spring.

The cost of that effort is estimated between 30-and-40 thousand dollars.

Approval by town meetings in Yarmouth and Dennis – and the o-k of the state Department of Education would be needed before the lower grades could de-regionalize.

The regional high school would remain intact.
